Dr. Samuel Kapmuren Rotich
A Baringo County Government employee Samuel Kapmuren Rotich, has written a book – The Love of God, espousing the virtues of living together in harmony according to Biblical tenets. It is published by Oracle House Publishers.
Dr. Kapmuren, who holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Christian Counseling from International Faith Theological Seminary, USA avers that there is need for humanity to live together peacefully here on earth and continue even in the life hereafter- in heaven.
His book could not have come at a better time when love seems to be a scarce commodity in society. Countries are in conflict, Communities in differences and even Christians in big divisions and yet in the point of view of Dr. Kapmuren, God is one and heaven is one.
He advises that all people should strive, in deed and in prayer, so that God fills their hearts with love which they can share with each other.
Dr. Kapmuren writes that Christianity is not religion but salvation to mankind and that believing in Jesus, the founder of the church, will enable people to solve their problems.
The way to ensure love reigns, he says, is to identify ways satan uses to cause confusion within the society. He identifies fighting among Christians as one of the ways. The other is divide and rule within the church where cults are introduced.
Dr. Kapmuren also says persecutions, rebellions, wrong interpretation of the scriptures and bad influences such as the introduction of Darwinian Theory of evolution are the other ways of misleading humanity.
However, he states that evil cannot prevail over goodness explaining that God’s will for every man is for him to live happily and to prosper. He warns that sin is punishable by God and advises that everyone needs to escape this wrath by accepting Jesus as personal Saviour.
He lists issues he says hinder love that should be avoided. The first is egocentrism which in other words is selfishness. He says selfishness if unchecked, grows into the second problem - pride.
Prosperity, he says can hinder love especially when one prays fervently in poverty for God’s blessings but when the prayers are answered through education, marriage, wealth, power name them all, one forgets everything.
In conclusion, the writer advises that to maintain love, one needs to live a truly Christian life. Secondly, one has to read or hear the Bible always. Living in fellowship with others such as being in church, preaching to unbelievers and living a prayerful life are the other ways.
Dr. Kapmuren was born in Ochii, Tenges Division of Baringo County. Besides working with Baringo County Government as Coffee Promotion extension officer for Mogotio Sub-County, he lectures, teaches the Bible and offers counseling services.
He says he would not have written the book without support from several people, both in his Full Gospel Churches of Kenya (FGCK) church and other churches. They include Pastor Kenneth Odhiambo of Maasai Mara University who wrote the forward.
Others appreciated include the current FGCK National General Secretary Bishop Eli Rop, Mr. Jonathan Chebet of Ngolong, Kabarnet, Bishop James Bett of International Faith church, Bishop Daniel Rotich of FGCK Kericho and Bishop Joshua Chepkurgor.
