President Kenyatta orders chiefs to track KCPE candidates

Every child who sat the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination this year must report to secondary schools, President Uhuru Kenyatta has ordered.

Speaking during Jamhuri Day celebrations yesterday, the President directed education officials and chiefs to ensure no child who sat this year’s KCPE examination fails to join Form One in January next year.

He said with the Government providing free education at the basic level, there was no reason for any child not to be in class.

“I expect all national and county government officials to shoulder full responsibility -personally and collectively - towards the achievement of our basic education policy goals, especially the 100 per cent transition from primary to secondary schools,” Uhuru said.

The President said he would hold education officials, chiefs and assistant chiefs accountable in enforcement of full compliance with the free education policy by keeping track of pupils.
