BARINGO SCHOOLS VISIT COUNTY EDUCATION HEADQUARTERS

Business activities in Kabarnet town came to a standstill when over 400 students of ‪#‎Tabagon‬ girls high school in Baringo Central Sub-County protested against poor results in the just released KCSE exams. The irate students who began their journey to the County headquarters in Kabarnet town trekked from Yesterday midnight for nearly 30 kilometers to meet the county education officials and even the governor. The students converged at the Governor’s office grounds where they were addressed by education officials led by the County Minister for Education ‪#‎LilianSadalla‬ alongside both the County Director of Education and his TSC counterpart. The girls through their student leaders complained of acute shortage of text books adding that the current books in the library were old and outdated. They also decried shortage of water forcing them to walk three kilometers where they fetch dirty water for bathing and washing in which they scramble for it with local community and their livestock. They also complained that they have to walk long distance to Tenges divisional headquarters for treatment as there was no dispensary within the institution besides. Other schools which have also sought for Education Office intervention so far are Marigat, Sangarau, Ayebo, Moi Kabartonjo, Sabor, Keturwo, Kapkelelwa and Saos in Eldama Ravine.
