Stop Electing Corrupt Leaders, Joshua Kandie Urges Baringo Residents Via BCN Joshua Kandie who hails from Baringo and works in Germany yesterday urged residents of Baringo Central Sub County to desist electing corrupt leaders. Speaking after donating 10 adjustable electric beds worth over Sh1M to three health facilities in Baringo Central Sub County namely: Kasitet, Kapkelelwa dispensaries and Mogorwo Health Centre, Kandie cautioned the residents to cease electing corrupt leaders, claiming their main agendas is to loot public funds for their own selfish gains. “We should not be poor but because of the leaders we elect are corrupt, we are. They plunder public money rendering the electorates wallow in an abject poverty,” said Kandie. He decried corruption prevalence in the nation, saying the vice is not the National Government phenomena alone, insisting that the habit has its roots in the grass root. He however lauded devolution naming it a paramount tool of development in the counties and urged all residents to support it. Symon Komen, Chairman for Kapkelelwa Dispensary, thanked Kandie for the donation, claiming such modern beds will be of great help to the patients. He appealed County Government to assist the dispensary open the maternity wing, saying expectant mothers undergo serious challenges during delivery as they have to be ferried to Baringo County Referral Hospital due to lack of maternity and poor road. Komen also urged the County Government to aid the facility get water supply, noting that they face acute water shortage. A resident of the area has told Baringo County News that Joshua Kandie who had studied Economics in Germany has sponsored more than 20 youth to study in technical colleges and all of them have graduated and are already employed. He conveyed that the tycoon who deals with car merchandise in Germany has also donated fire engines and hospital equipment to Baringo County and County Referral Hospital worth millions last year in liaison with friends from Hurt. Present in the event was Peter Chepkonga, Director National Chamber of Commerce, Baringo, some former civic leaders, area chiefs and Assistant chiefs.
